And now COVID
I am one of the lucky ones that is able to work from home. It took some adjusting. Mostly because I was now more dependent on others to do my job. And those were the shops that I don't trust all that much. (side note: why are all the good shops not busy?)
But other than work, my life hasn't really changed much. My day revolves around work, shower, tv, dinner & sleep. I just don't leave for work. I haven't left the house since St. Patrick's Day. My trip back to Georgia was canceled. Watched days pass by on the calendar that were marked for dinners with friends and a much overdue haircut. It still has not been cut by the way. But I got some hair shears the week (thank you Amazon) and plan to trim my own hair this weekend.
I've been missing the south lately. A few months ago, I was fairly certain I would never move back to the southeast. Of course, I would visit but I was in no hurry to commit to that humidity again. Out of curiosity, I looked at job posts for my company to see where I might want to move next. I just wanted to see if anything good was out there.
Several options around Maryland. Nope. Not interested.
Saw some midwest options. They seemed too far north or too landlocked.
Vegas. Hmm. Maybe. *looked up average temps for Vegas* Nope. Might as well move to the surface of the sun.
Clarksville, TN. Hmm. Maybe. Not far from Nashville (have a good friend there). Not far from a large lake.
New Orleans. Hmm. Now we're talking. Wait.... hurricanes. The drinks = yes. Weather = nope!
Raleigh, NC. Hmm. Looks pretty nice. Nice combination of southern, not as hot, mountains.
Then I saw the one that made my heart start to dream.
Charleston, SC. Coastal = nice breeze. That will help with the horrible humidity. Charming. Only a couple of hours from Savannah and couple more back to Macon.
I don't want to try to move during this pandemic. And there are a few things I want to accomplish here in Los Angeles. (job-related) Just hoping Charleston is still available (and wants me) when the time is right.
But for now, I'll dream a little dream.
